Our Rare Fruit Seeds collection focuses on fruit that stood out because of its flavor, appearance, rarity or unusual genetics. Instead of filling the catalog with ordinary varieties, we concentrate on fruit that gave us a reason to want to grow it ourselves.

The collection includes specialty strawberries, pineberries and other uncommon fruit seeds collected or selected from fruit and plants that caught our attention.

When possible, listings include information about the original fruit, seed source, germination experience and our own growing observations. Our goal is to give home growers more useful information than a generic seed packet description.

Because fruit grown from seed involves sexual reproduction, seedlings can vary from the fruit or plant they came from. That genetic variation can produce differences in flavor, color, size, growth habit and other characteristics. We believe that is part of the fun of growing unusual fruit from seed.
