Shop: Japanese Strawberry Seeds
Growing Japanese strawberries from seed is a seedling-selection project, not a way to clone the exact fruit you ate. Start more seeds than plants you need, sow them shallowly, keep the medium evenly moist, move seedlings promptly into bright light, and keep records as each plant reveals its own fruit quality.
Japanese strawberry seeds can lead to unusual and worthwhile plants, but seedlings are not automatic copies of the berry that supplied the seed. Grow a population, evaluate the fruit, and propagate any standout plant by runners.
